Activities
We aim to improve personal independence and reduce social exclusion through the teaching of life skills. Life skills are the
foundation on which other skills learning is built. Many clients have a history of school and employment failure and have
basic skills deficiencies, which are often concealed. Many have developed coping or distorted skills that often lead to
social exclusion and challenging behaviour.
We provide for life skills training through one-to-one keyworking and group sessions, which change on a regular basis and
provide varied activities for our clients. These have included preparing for work and life programmes as well as outdoor team-
building activities, art, theatre, creative writing, web design, photography, budgeting and money management. People who are
engaging in something which is purposeful and significant is beneficial and motivational for the individual and encourages
self-help and development towards employment and further training and education.
If you have any ideas of activities or visits that you feel could benefit our clients, then please let us know. There is
bound to be something we haven’t yet thought of; remember also that not everything we do is focused on education or training,
sometimes it is important to just have fun. Homeless or not we all deserve and need to just relax and enjoy ourselves.
Numeracy and Literacy
Thanks to funding from the European Social Fund, we now provide numeracy and literacy support to our clients. Improving
numeracy and literacy levels are not seen as a top priority to our clients but these basic skills do have a huge impact on
the client’s ability to function sufficiently and manage the everyday complications of life.
